Richmond, VA | Hybrid
We’re looking for a Social Media Strategist & Content Creator to join our team and work in close collaboration with our Social Media Supervisor. You love making content, you understand strategy, and you get excited when a Reel outperforms expectations. You’re the kind of person who shows up to a client site prepared to capture and comes back with footage that tells a story.
This role will support content strategy, creation, execution, and performance reporting across a portfolio of agency accounts. You’ll have real ownership over content and real impact on results.
You will execute strategic, creative, and performance-driven social media content that drives measurable brand growth for DLA’s clients, turning platforms into communities, content into engagement, and campaigns into results.
What You’ll Own
Content Creation & Execution:
- Build and maintain monthly, platform-specific content calendars for assigned clients, including content pillars, copy, image/reel description, etc.
- Produce original content: Copy, graphics direction, reels, carousels, and stories – all that reflect each client’s brand voice and platform best practices.
- On-site content capture shoots (some including travel up to 3 hours outside of Richmond), and come back with assets that outperform stock or recycled content (measurable via engagement, saves, shares, and watch time).
- Drive at least 2 social-first “breakthrough” moments per client per quarter — standout Reels, trend-led content, or high-performing posts that beat account averages.
Community & Audience Growth
- Own community management across assigned accounts: including comments and DMs, with a response window under 24 hours.
- Contribute to quarterly follower growth targets through a mix of organic content strategy and support on paid campaign execution.
- Maintain positive brand sentiment and flag escalated community issues early with a recommended response plan.
Strategy & Optimization
- Analyze performance data monthly and translate it into clear insights on what worked, what didn’t, and what to do next.
- Test new platform features and trending formats early; bring recommendations to the team before clients are playing catch-up.
- Contribute content and performance highlights to monthly client presentations, reinforcing DLA’s role as a proactive strategic partner.
Collaboration & Agency Contribution
- Work hand-in-hand with the Social Media Supervisor to ensure social strategy is integrated into broader campaign work, not bolted on at the end.
- Bring proactive, creative ideas to internal strategy conversations – the kind that actually influence creative direction or media planning.
- Share learnings, trending content formats, and platform insights with the wider agency team in ways that lift everyone’s performance.
- Show up as reliable, solution-oriented, and prepared, both internally with our team and externally with clients.
What You Bring
- 2–4 years of experience in social media, content creation, or digital marketing. Agency experience is a plus, not a requirement.
- Deep hands-on knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube — you know how each platform’s algorithm actually works.
- Content creation skills: you can shoot and edit a Reel, write sharp captions, and design graphics that don’t look templated.
- Strong strategic instincts: You understand business objectives and can connect content decisions to them.
- Comfort with performance data: you can read a Meta Business Suite report and tell someone what it means and what to do about it.
- Experience managing multiple client accounts or projects simultaneously.
- A proactive, self-starter energy. You don’t wait to be told what the trend is; you’re already making content about it.
- Confidence in client-facing settings, including on-site shoots and monthly reporting conversations.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and voice across brands.
Core Competencies:
- Social platform expertise with a performance mindset
- Strong creative storytelling instincts
- Strategic marketing thinking tied to business objectives
- Data literacy and insight-driven decision making
- Proactive, adaptable, and energized by change
- Collaborative with clients and teammates
- Highly organized across multiple accounts
- Comfortable and confident in client-facing and on-site environments
- Strong visual aesthetic and skilled in programs such as CapCut, Canva, and Lightroom
- Skilled in scheduling and reporting tools such as Sprout and Meta Business Suite
The Fundamentals
- Location: Hybrid work environment (Richmond, VA).
- Compensation: Competitive compensation
- Time Off: Unlimited paid time off with 4 weeks minimum, and 14 paid company holidays (including the week between Christmas and New Year’s).
- Benefits: Health, Dental, and Vision benefits, Simple IRA Retirement Plan.
